I’m slowly working my way back from maternity leave. I can’t believe my baby girl turned 5 months on the 15th. It has been a whirlwind for sure. A friend of mine wasn’t kidding when she told me that pregnancy sucks all things creative out of you and I would venture to say that the suckage continued throughout the 4th trimester. But life seems to be getting back to a new normal for us which feels awesome.

Dog photography sure has come a long way in the last year and that excites me. I’m always looking for something new to do with my photography as I tend to get bored really easily. So I have a few new ideas brewing in my head and I’m excited to try them out over the next few months. Miss Gracie, my loyal assistant, is helping me work on a few things. She’s such a good girl. I can’t believe that she is going to be SEVEN next month. SEVEN?

It’s good to be back!

Miss Maggie turned 8 weeks on Sunday and since my PPD is clearing up I am finally able to enjoy this little miracle that was given to us. Although it has been a rough 8 weeks we realize how lucky we are to have her and that many couples out there are still struggling to have families of their own. Our own story to get our Maggie is a long one with many tears and heartbreaks. She is such a precious gift. We are extra thankful for our little monkey and enjoy every day with her.

And that includes Gracie, who snuggled with her all Saturday morning on our bed :)

She came in, sniffed Maggie, checked out a poopy diaper, stuck her nose up my rear, grabbed her stogey, and laid down.

I would say it was a perfect introduction. I think they’re going to be lifelong friends :)

Last night we just hung out in the back yard and enjoyed a gorgeous summer evening. Taking pictures is not an easy task with a huge belly but I wanted to catch a few last shots of Gracie as an only child.

I love this shot. Every year the bee’s come to the lavender and Gracie spends hours nosing them. It doesn’t really bother me that neither are in focus, I can still feel what was going on here.

All of a sudden I have a tummy that no longer allows me to lay on the ground like I’m used to or get up and down as quickly as I want. I’ve been working on a few editorial projects, but not sure how much longer I will be able to shoot dogs as I seem to be growing at a rapid rate!

Miss Gracie has been busy helping me decorate her baby sister’s nursery and she’s doing quite a good job! I think she’s especially happy that we bought a crib that is short enough for her to peek her head in so she can keep watch over her :)

She was fascinated with some new shoes that came home last night as a gift, but I kept having to remind her that they were not for her (eg: chew toys). I think they just might be the cutest shoes I’ve ever seen.

I wonder if they make them for dogs.
