Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

Tea for 3 | Dog Photographer

When Michelle asked me if I wanted to collaborate on a shoot with her I couldn’t say yes fast enough. She dreamed up this adorable concept of a tea party with 2 girls and dog and then got to work organizing the entire thing. She is my hero.

I had an absolute blast doing this shoot. It was the perfect mix of people and wouldn’t be what it was without the collaboration of everyone involved.

Bella was our comic relief, she kept us all laughing the entire time with her outfits, snorting, passion for string cheese, and hours full of energy. Special thanks to her Mom Layne for bringing all her outfits and being so relaxed. A relaxed dog owner makes an organized photo shoot dreamy.

Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot but you can see the entire story [ here ].

True Story: A 5 month old St. Bernard crashed our tea party. He ran over, licked a cupcake, licked my face (fair game as I was sitting in the grass), and then was hauled away by his owner.

Mary - and (I nearly want to say most of all) I LOVE the 5 month old Saint Bernard! They're the mascot of our high school and I have never seen a baby one before!

Mary - These are so warm and lovely!! you captured such an angelic and energetic vibe!!!

julie @ jewelimage - so, so sweet. Such a fun concept and shoot. I love you and MIchelle! Always such great work :)

Brandee - What a great session!! We just love French Bulldogs! My 10 year old Frenchie and 2.5 year old little girl are the best of buddies, especially when there are snacks involved!!

Courtney - As the owner of a Saint, I love this post so, so very much!!! What darling subjects to shoot and I can't blame that puppy. I would have crashed such a delicious spread, too, if I had stumbled upon such a setting!

Lucent Imagery - What a hilarious shoot! And for no practical reason at all, I want their table and chairs!!

Debbie Shook - Holy cow-adorable dogs AND little ladies. Doesn't get much cuter!!

MAYBELLINE - Darling girls. Sweet smashed face. Lovely, cuddley Bernard. Perfect package.

kristie kulik - loooooooove!

li - How fun! The feather boa is awesome.

Trude - Ohhh gawwwd the cuteness!! The pink toenails kill me. And I love the combo of pretty light and green grass. :)

Danielle & her human - So cool! They are magical. Love the girl's expressions when the Bernard had his head on the table. :)

Maria - These are so whimsical and vibrant yet have a touch of old-time flare. Perfect.

Frances - I love that the saint bernard wanted to join the fun! I think that shot is my favorite!

Erin Elliott - Erin, these are spectacular. As I was watching you take them, I would never have dreamed that you were catching each so perfectly. Brava Mama, your instincts and timing are impeccable. Gracie and Maddy look adorable and Bella could not be cuter! Even our wet, crazy, floppy interloper, was the perfect addition! Thanks for the great shots for Gracie's portfolio!
