Still working on getting back in touch with the camera.
I love those neck rolls.
Love them.

I am a dog lover first.
A photographer second.
By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer
I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.
After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.
My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so). She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!
What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

- Erin, just wanted to tell you that I stopped touching my camera almost the second I got pregnant and didn't pick it back up until the day my son was born. 9 months sans photos. It was weird! I didn't even think about it! But now, I'm back in the game and have a completely different source of inspiration! I hope the same happens for you when your little one arrives! Congratulations!
- These are lovely. I'm going through the same slump, Erin. Here's to hopefully getting back to it!
- She looks like such a sweet dog. I love the grey on her face. Reminds me of my golden retriever. I didn't realize how old he was until I looked at previous pics. That grey face kind of sneaks up on you!
- I'm gonna agree with Brent on this one. But in the meantime...I'm enjoying the shots of Gracie!
- I've always found that when I'm in a creative slump, what works best for me is avoiding the medium all together. Something else will stir the passion for it back up in you, right when you least expect it. Don't feel guilty for not wanting to even look at your camera, it's all part of the creative process. Sometimes you just need a break.
- You come up with some great perspectives of you Gracie! Magie had rolls just like that.
- Glad to hear you are getting back into the swing of things!! love the pictures of Gracie!!
- Happy belated bday to Gracie. Such a sweet girl, I love these shots!
- Love the rolls! That's where Dante gets the most scratching, besides his ears. Just wish he was tall enough for me to get this kind of shot. ;) P.S. Saw a book in Barnes and Noble the other day with Gracie on the cover - so cool! I knew it was her right away - not just because I follow this blog, but because your style is so clear and defined. Very inspiring.
- Those are some of my favorite things about Zelda my Doberman. You capture all the most special features...
- glad to see you back..
