Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

Beauty in Details | Seattle Dog Photographer

I am off to North Carolina this afternoon to shoot a few incredible dogs + their amazing Mama’s. I wonder what types of adventures I’ll run into while in the South. I can’t wait! Gracie has graciously turned her Twitter account over to me for the trip if you would like to follow along.

I’ll try to post updates, pictures, and maybe a video or two while I’m there. One thing is for sure, I will be having my very first Chick Fil A meal ever! I’m gladly taking suggestions on what I should get :)

. . . .

I’ve been finding joy + beauty in the details lately. It iis those small, precious, little things all put together that make up the real beauty of a dog.

Christine - TOO CUTE! the ears are melting my heart. :)

Maribeth - Can we see the face of this one..the eyes? looks like my pup!! love it!

Kasey - The first one is adorable! I love it!

Wendy - DON'T DO IT!!! DO NOT eat at Chick-Fil-A! Because once you've had it, you'll be like me and you'll dearly miss it when it's gone! But if you must go, eat an extra serving of nuggets for me, okay? And I LOVE the close-up of the bottom lip! You've inspired me to try to capture our golden's pathetic underbite!

Miranda - If you want some real southern chicken go to Bojangles!! I miss it so much when I leave NC, lol " ) I live in Greenville, NC (eastern part of the state). I love your pictures, they are so expressive and genuine. I am proud mommy of two boy doggies, a pit bull and a rescue mutt " ) And two girl kitties. And a husband, lol...

Carly - Those are great photographs! I just love them! See what you can do for these dogs. You might change their lives. Save A Dog: http://apps.facebook.com/save-a-dog/

Fred Holmes - Be aware that Chik-Fil-A's are not open on Sundays. Don't get shut out! We also have Whataburgers and Dr. Peppers here in the South. Some places have never heard of these and just give you a look...

Betsy - Erin - Adore your blog, website and of course Gracie's Twitter posts! :-) Your work is wonderful and I am inspired every time I visit. Now...to the important stuff! Here I am in Pennsylvania, we have Chick-Fil-A here AND I'VE NEVER EATEN THERE!!! What am I missing for crying out loud??!! :-)

myboyzach - Chic A Fil...(that's what I call it) #1--the sandwich and lemonade or sweetened ice tea. You'll need the drinks while your here, it's been hot and humid. Wait, that's not unusual. And my boy Zach is a black cocker--I love the pictures, I'll need to try those poses with him !!!! Enjoy NC it's a nice state.

Maribeth - awwww....just adorable!! love the first one!!! thanks for posting more of this cocker spaniel!! I love the precious details, every part of them is cute!! Put it all together...awww...just precious! no other word decribes them!

Sue, Vancouver, BC, Canada - Ahhhh...this could be my baby....a new angle for me to shoot her at :-)

Bethany - Chick-fil-a combo #1 with lemonade, and honey mustard dipping sauce. Pour a little honey mustard on the sammy, and dip the fries in the rest.

Victoria - Have a wonderful trip!

Deann B. - Have fun! Can't wait to see all the new doggie details!

Katie - Ok, I have been a blog stalker for a little while but coming down to my State has prompted my first comment. :) You need to get the "Chicken Sandwich" (it's meal #1). Chick-fil-a advertises that they didn't invent the chicken- just the chicken sandwich so you need to stick to that. My favorite way to get it is fried with only American cheese- but it comes with pickles naturally. I live in Raleigh and was bummed that you were going to Charlotte. My furkid, a rottie mix, would have been honored to have his picture taken - your work is wonderful! Enjoy the humidity!

Kaity Fuja - Mmmm... Chic Fil A... #5 8 pack chicken nuggets with waffle fries and a coke! YUMMMM! PS: I'm kind of obsessed with your blog... LOVE IT!

Melissa - We have Chick Fil A here in OK and I always like to get the chicken strips or chicken nuggets with fries - not just any old fries - but WAFFLE FRIES! Of course it's all good with lots of ranch dressing!

Vanessa - At one point in my life, my family owned a family of Cockers; mom, dad, brother & sister. Seeing one reminds me of my childhood and their sweetness. Thanks for bringing a little bit of joy to my Thursday.
