Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

Best of Gracie 2008

Gracie’s recent health scare reminded me that I hadn’t started her Best of 2008 book and it is something that I really wanted to do.

So I got started this week. It has been so much fun! I’m only on April, but here are some pages so far that made me say ahhhhhhh.

Andrew Lee - I love the idea of a "Best of 2008" for Gracie. I think I may do that at the end of this year for my Puggies. The peanut butter sequence is my fav!

PShorten - Erin, I've been following you on my RSS feed for a long time and now all the sudden I'm getting just the first line of your blog and no photos. I have to click thru to see your posting which I just don't have time to do very often. I'm hoping you'll change your settings back. Pat

earthtoholly - Gracie is so adorable...is that peanut butter that she's mastering there? And so is Baby...what a sweetie! Dogs are simply the best...perfect creatures they are. I just love all of your photography. How nice to be able to successfully meld both of your passions. Excellent!

Cat, Chaps and Emma - What a way to start the weekend. Thank you.

Laurie Luck, CPDT - I could never -ever- get enough of Miss Gracie. Love the mud!! Love the wrinkles!

kristie kulik - love love love them all!!! Gracie just oozes cuteness :)

Amber - I love all of these sweet pictures! The one with the little dog (can't remember the name) looking through her back legs is so cute! And the snow nose and the muddy legs and well, all of them! :)

carrie - These are so beautiful! I love the ones of her and the Boston (Winston?) and the peanut butter ones. Gorgeous. Do you ever sell your prints to the general public? I thought I remembered seeing a link a few months back, but now I can't find it...

melissa (georgia & milo's mama) - best of gracie could go on and on and on and on...

Erin - I created my own book templates.

Anonymous - Beautiful! What program are you using to create the book? I'd like to look into it.. Thanks!

Teri - Oh my, what great photos. I love the ones with her and the Boston.

Annie - Yeah, I have Google Reader and my images haven't been showing up either.

Alia - I love the picture with snow on her nose! :) So adorable.

Shelley - I LOVE your BLOG and have been following your posts and photos for a loooooong time. I subscribe to bark, and receive your updates within an email program on my MAC. I noticed that last Friday was the last time that a photo appeared within your posts through my subscription -- and now to view the unbelievably awesome photos that you include, I have to click the link to visit the site. While I'm sure this has to do with recording the number of visits you receive or some other underlying matter, I just wanted to let you know that I truly miss having those photos delivered to my email through my subscription. Being able to go back through the saved emails of your postings could always bring a smile. Also -- I'm glad that Gracie is getting better! I've been the babysitter for my son's dog and had some real sympathy pains for your Mom. :-)

Annie - I was going to tell you my favorite but as I kept scrolling down it was harder and harder to choose!

Tali - These pictures are beautiful and inspiring me to take more pictures of my own doggies :)

Stephanie - I absolutely adore all of these images. I've followed your blog so often and have grown to love Gracie as though she were apart of my own family. You are truly blessed to have such an amazing companion.

Deann B. - I love them all, but the first and third spreads are my faves. I love all her wrinkles in the first one and the connection between her and Winston in the 3rd one is just too cute!
