Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

Cuvee’s Birthday Bash

This weekend I was at Cave B Inn + Winery for Cuvee’s 2nd Birthday party. Thanks to everyone who stopped by my table to chat.

I got to really test drive the new camera this past week/weekend (5D MK II) and there are definitely some things I like and definitely some things I don’t like. But the high ISO performance outweighs all the things I don’t like. Most of these were taken at ISO 2000 – 5000.

It was a colorful day filled with cookies, cake, balloons, and treats. But I love these images in Black + White.

I’ll post some of the birthday girl this week!

kristi - mark me as one more who is wanting to know the dislikes, as the high ISO capability has been my chief reason for wanting to trade up, and from the looks of these...it is fabulous! Great puppy pics....you're the best even at very relaxed candids@!

Kim Bryan - Erin, These are so wonderful, and we so enjoyed having you at Cuvee's event. Thank you for posting these pics...we'll eagerly await the photos of Cuvee!

Annie - i'm also interested in your thoughts on the camera. i'm thinking about upgrading from my ancient 20d.

Andreas - I'm thinking about buying it as well. The high ISO performance is attractive. If you have time - please share the dislikes as well!

Rachel - The picture of the golden retriever is amazing.

shelley - I'm dying to hear about your dislikes also... Pics are awesome as always!

sammieb - These are fantastic. I am about to take the plunge and get a Mark II (currently have a 30D) and would like to hear more about your dislikes/likes with this camera.

Kim Hayes - the grain looks great here... how does it look big- at 100%? is it worth getting?

emily - i'm curious as to what you don't like. . .
