Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

Christmas

We did Christmas again this weekend in Sequim at my sister’s house.

This was Miss Gracie on Christmas morning.

Not known for being into relaxing, this was Winston on Christmas morning. Alert and ready for any toy that might pop out of the wrapping paper.

Not a dog but he still qualifies as an animal since he is on all fours. I give you The Christmas Cow.

We headed outside yesterday morning. It was so beautiful.

Despite their size differences, they really are the best of friends.

Although for a moment I seriously questioned the above statement when I saw Winston PEE on Gracie’s leg. I’m going to chalk that one up to mistaking her leg for a tree. What is THAT about?

I hope you all had a very nice and relaxing Christmas!

Brenda - That is one adorable nephew you have there. Did you computer enhance those eyes or are they that deep blue?

vanessa - Love how she relaxes and Winston and Christmas Cow are adorable as well! :) Happy New Year

TammyB - hahaha.. That's a Boston for ya.. I think Winston was marking Gracie as his. lol

King - Omg the Christmas cow is so cute!

Jane & Nelson - Gracie sure was relaxed, and didn't have anything else to do. Hmmm...yes, Winston was showing his dominance, been there.

Lori - I see Gracie is loving Christmas morning~my kind of gal! And..my pug Jocko always pees on my boxer Sammy's back leg...usually when he is peeing too! It's so damn weird! :)

nick - Looks like it was a wonderful christmas :) Maybe Winston did see a long brown stump and assumed it was a branch heehee

Jennifer Kitrosser - Yes, obviously Winston is marking his territory!

Kim - Apparently Winston would like Gracie to be HIS. :)

Linda@Lime in the Coconut - Ahhh yes. Di I EVER recognize those couch potato poses!! Could be our dane. Are b&W dogs harder to photograph??? The little boy is Adorable!!

Michelle Moore - Aww! That blanket looks so soft...I'm jealous!!

lou h - Gracie, girl, you are the epitome of ennui. We didn't get this relaxed until the in-laws went home!
