Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

Happy Howloween

The little dogs have all the fun when it comes to fashion. I am in full on panic mode now for Gracie’s Halloween costume. It is a safe bet that she will not fit into any costume made for dogs, because well, she is rather large chested (and proud of it!)

Last year I called my Mom and said “Can you dig through our old dance costumes and see if there is anything that Gracie can wear for Halloween?” She brought over my sisters softball jersey from jr. high. That was a joke. So I had to settle for some sequined leg warmers. That lasted about 1 minute. Maybe I’ll dress her in some of my clothes and she can be me for Halloween :)

Are they killing you with cuteness yet? Can you believe them? It’s too much. Everyone was stopping to oooh and ahhh over our little trick or treaters.

Erin - Well that might just happen because I owned Kazuo Kawasaki glasses LONG before she did :) Hah ah aha

Lori Guess - Since I am voting for Gracie for president and it's almost election time I think it only appropriate that she dress in her presidential style with Palin glasses all the way! :)

Gari-Ann - I want to see a pic of her in the sequined leg warmers! Awesome!

heidi - i think gracie should be a ballerina! :)

Jill - I love Halloween! Eddie is going to be Bat Dog. He hates it though and won't move until I take it off.

Jess Kamm - Love the pictures! You should look in the children's section at the store for a howloween costume for Gracie. My parents have a bulldog and she doesn't fit into anything...I've discovered she's a 2T in the kids department though!!

Melissa - I'm officially keeled over with cuteness overload!

Jena - they just make me melt! :) ps - fabulous rings on your human model!

Leandra - Oh I can't wait to see what you come up with for Miss Gracie. The 2 little ones pictured are darling.

nick - That costume on the left is too cute!

kristie kulik - omg, I can hardly stand it!!!!
