Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

Just A Baby

My sister and I have said it for as long as I can remember. I think we picked it up from our friend Erica back in high school who had these awesome Doberman’s named Congie and Ebony. We would sit around and pet them and say “Ahhhh, you’re just a BABY!”

Really it can be said in just about any situation. But most of the time I use it when Gracie is so exhausted that a T-Bone steak wouldn’t get her up. This is exactly how she was yesterday after a full day at Daycare. Daycare is currently part of her “weight management program”, which I’m happy to say is currently a success.

After daycare, I looked over from my computer (she is my office buddy), saw this and said, “Ahhhh, you’re just a baby!” I had to grab my camera.

Yes. This is really how she sleeps! The incredible folding dog.

oneshotbeyond - when my dog sleeps I could sit and watch her for hours... #1 because she is so relaxing to watch and gets herself in the most goofy positions & #2 because she actually is "off guard" for those moments...which is rare

Lassie - My dog (Sokka, a year-old Roman Rottweiler pup) folds up like this all the time. Its adorable when they do that. I love Miss Gracie's floppy ears and neck wrinkles :P Wrinkly dogs are adorable ♥

Angel - I was raised with Danes. They truly are an amazing animal. Gracie is a beautiful baby.

carinh - Those are so cute. I love that dog bed. Where did you get it? I've been looking for something like that for my black lab. She's not as big, but she loves to spread out when she's sleeping.

Jill - She is so sweet and totally just a baby!! My doggy won't sit on the couch without a blanket. And I always get him one.

Casia Fletcher - How funny... the second shot just makes me *giggle* -She's got more pillows than me!

ami - No way! That is EXACTLY what I say to my hound! "You're just a baby!" or "you're just a tiny little baby!". And it's typically when she's all sleepy, cuddled up in a certain spot. Funny, the things we say to our pups. :)

Jennifer Kitrosser - She looks sooo cozy!!

Beth - I love how she has her blankie with her! My Kels sleeps on the sofa curled up w/a pillow under his head, sometimes he hugs it. They are babies!

Deann B. - Wow! That bed looks more comfy than my own! :) Sweet dreams, Gracie...
