Dog Photographer Erin Vey bio picture

Meet Erin Vey

I am a dog lover first.

A photographer second.

By some random chance of fate, I was able to combine the two loves into the coolest job ever: A Dog Photographer

I grew up in a family where dogs were always an integral part of our lives and most importantly, members of the family. Most of my childhood was spent with various Basset Hounds of the lovable but extremely stubborn variety. We never had less than 2 at any given time, sometimes 3, and the occasional stray that one of us would bring home for a visit.

After a short stint doing portrait work, which I still love, I realized my true calling is capturing the essence and personality of dogs. Upon reflection, I feel that my time doing portrait work was not wasted. Because of it, my experience with portrait work flows beautifully into working with people and their dogs.

My husband and I are owned by the fabulous Miss Gracie, a 5 year old Great Dane who brings energy and life into our house. You’ll see her around here a lot, she loves having her portrait taken (at least I like to think so).  She is a complete Diva and if you stick around long enough, you'll know what I'm talking about!

What an amazing adventure this has been so far. I’m so glad you are here experiencing it with me.

She Had Me At Puppy

3 things caught my attention instantly.

1) I have a puppy (OMG)
2) I live in Madison Park (It is a completely adorable neighborhood in Seattle that I rarely get to visit)
3) I am an artist (well I found that one out by going to her exquisite website)

I had the most delightful time with them this week and I just had to post a small sneak peak for Mom because the photos are just too cute to keep to myself.

We’ll start with Simon, otherwise known as the ‘social’ cat.

Eddie, otherwise known as the ‘cat who hid under the covers the entire time’ or ‘that lump on the bed’. We had to slowly pull the covers off to get a very quick shot at the end of the session.

Finally Augustus, the most adorable 4 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy that I have EVER had the pleasure of meeting. I walked in the door, sat down on the floor, and he crawled right into my lap and curled up. This is not doing anything to cure my horrible puppy fever!

Evelyn - My daughter has 2 beautiful cats that called out to her as kittens from a rescue center, and they both burrow under the covers that way.

Jessica James - Cutest puppy I've ever seen! Love the way you captured them together.

Kim Hayes - that puppy is so cute i can hardly stand it!!!!

wrecklessgirl - not to mention, i'm living with my friend who has a cavalier. she is my best friend right now. and by that, i mean, the sweetest, loving, happiest-to-see-me person in my life.

wrecklessgirl - your last shot is heart-warming. beautiful and simple. and who doesn't love a social kitty? I LOVE THEM!
