Brodie

I wanted to share a little bit more about a very special shoot I had a few weeks ago. I didn’t share this part of the story with my original images of Brodie + Venus, because it was important to me to highlight them separate from the main reason I was there.

Brodie was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness which quickly left him with his back legs paralyzed. A few days before our shoot he was heavily sedated on pain pills and really just not himself. But the day I was there his spirits really seemed to pick up. I’ve met quite a few dogs in my lifetime and I could just instantly tell that Brodie is a fighter with an amazing spirit.

What I didn’t share is that Brodie uses a doggy wheelchair which allows him to be mobile and get some exercise. I wanted to share a few shots of him in it because I think it is so cool!

But I also wanted to ensure that we got some shots of Brodie separate from his illness. He was feeling a little sporty here :)

He is so full of life and I just have this feeling in my gut that he isn’t going to let this illness get the best of him.

Please tell Brodie that Nelson and I send him lots of love. Also to Sandy, Brodie’s mom. I hope he continues to fell well.

Tears to my eyes. What a wonderful tribute you’ve done here, Erin. I know Brodie’s mom will cherish this forever.

what an incredible job you did capturing who Brodie really is… i’m sure his mom will treasure these photos forever.

  4. Every time I look at the photos that Erin took that magical day, it brings tears of joy to my eyes. It was truly a wonderful day where Brodie’s spirit really came back to him. At the time I had Erin come out to take photos, Brodie was just diagnosed with cancer and was only given weeks. That was about a month ago and we have been through a real journey. He is still doing well and he is still full of spirit. His blog is at:

Brodie is a fighter and a trooper and just enforces in me the feeling that we can learn so much from our furkids. Seeing every day as a blessing is something I don’t take for granted any longer!
Thank you Erin for creating memories and bringing Brodie’s spirit back to him!

Erin, thanks for the pictures. Brodie & his sister Venus are 2 very special dogs and their mom is a pretty special person too. We lost our 1st Bulldog to Osteosarcoma about 6 years ago, and I wish we had had a photo shoot of Winnie done before we lost her. Excellent work!

Go Brodie, go Brodie, GO BRODIE! From Brodie’s first pics I thought he had a special sparkle in his eye (but then again I think that about most doggies!)and this just makes me cheer him on more! As the mommy of a furbaby with a terminal illness almost 8 weeks post diagnosis (when he was given 4-8 weeks to live) I LoVE to hear stories like this. I totally see my Chester sometimes chasing the bunnies under the play house and saying to himself “I may have cancer but cancer ain’t got me!” HUGS and kisses to Brodie from me and Chester!

Wow. Looks like you really captured his spirit… what an inspiring story!

  8. Wow…that is amazing. What an inspiration. Dogs really can teach us so much about how we can live.

  9. Excellent photos but the story is priceless. Thanks for sharing Erin!

It’s amazing to see what challenges all of us & our special ‘little’ ones in our lives. What an inspiring soul. I’m sure his mom loves these & they will be displayed forever!

  11. I love it. Even more now that I know the back story. Excellent work, Erin.
